Amapiano Artist Guide

Log drums. Piano grooves. A sound of your own.

Amapiano was shaped by South African dance music, with log-drum bass patterns, shakers, spacious chords and patient arrangements. It can be soulful and restrained or built for high-pressure club sets. The best upload strategy starts by identifying which lane your recording belongs to, not trying to fit every piano-driven track under one label.

Amapiano production gives the bass and percussion a lot of responsibility. Before publishing, check how the log drum, kick, chords and vocals translate on real speakers and phone playback.

Keep the log drum under control

A hard log-drum pattern can sound impressive in the studio but overpower a vocal or clip small speakers. Check its relationship with the kick and make sure the low end stays clear in mono.

Choose the Amapiano lane that fits

A vocal-led, harmony-rich Private School track may need different tagging and presentation from sparse S’gija or a brighter Afro-Piano crossover. Use the closest available genre and describe the nuances in your release copy.

Credit collaborators properly

List the beatmaker, vocalist, producer and any guest performers accurately. Confirm sample clearances and split arrangements before making the recording public.

Make a release clip from the groove

A short video that introduces the main piano figure or log-drum switch can give prospective listeners a reason to open the full track. Use one public BTR song link once the recording is approved.

Free Music Uploads

BTR is not a Spotify distributor.

A BTR upload publishes to the BeatsToRapOn ecosystem and may be eligible for BTR Music. It does not send your song to Spotify, Apple Music or other DSPs. See the Spotify upload guide for that separate process and Artist Pro for current features and regional prices.

Amapiano Release Strategy

Upload the song. Give it momentum.

Publishing a recording is the beginning of the release, not the end of the campaign. Use a distinctive moment from the track, one clear link and a consistent artist identity. For Amapiano in particular, the details below make promotion more relevant to the sound.

Sell the musical moment

Pick the eight to fifteen seconds where your log drum arrives, the keys change or the vocal locks into the groove. Use it consistently across your release clips, with a clear call to hear the full song.

Tell listeners which Amapiano they are hearing

Amapiano fans are not one audience. Some want soulful vocals; others want more percussive late-night production. Write a release description that reflects the actual recording and its influences.

Connect to nearby sounds, not unrelated tags

If you make Afro-Piano, link from this page to the Afrobeats upload guide. Keep the primary genre accurate rather than tagging a track with every trending African music style.

Remember to review the original music file, the release artwork and the public page before posting it anywhere. If you need help finishing the recording, BTR also offers music promotion tools and wider artist-facing services.

Amapiano Upload Questions

Answers before you upload.

Where can I upload Amapiano music for free?
Upload your Amapiano song directly on BeatsToRapOn. Create a free artist account, open the track workspace, add your finished audio, artwork and credits, then submit it for review. Free accounts support up to 10 tracks total.
Can I upload an Amapiano instrumental without vocals?
Yes, if you own the recording or have the necessary permissions. An instrumental piano track or producer-led release can use the relevant available Amapiano category.
Is Amapiano the same as Afrobeats?
No. They overlap and influence each other, but Amapiano developed out of South African house, kwaito and piano-driven sounds. If the log drum and Amapiano groove lead your track, use Amapiano. For Afrobeats-led songs, see the Afrobeats upload page.
Can I upload a full Amapiano DJ mix?
Use BTR’s dedicated DJ mix upload guide and the Full Length DJ Mixes category rather than uploading a continuous set as a normal single. Mixed third-party recordings have separate rights and earnings rules.
Can I upload music for free on BeatsToRapOn?
Yes. A free BTR artist account currently supports up to 10 track uploads in total. Artist Pro adds unlimited uploads and additional artist features; review the current plan details before upgrading.
Does uploading here release my music on Spotify or Apple Music?
No. BeatsToRapOn is a direct-upload artist platform and BTR Music is its connected listener app. Uploading to BTR does not distribute to Spotify, Apple Music or other DSPs. You need a separate distributor for that workflow.
Will my song be in the BTR Music mobile app?
Approved, published tracks that meet artist, content and mobile eligibility rules can appear in BTR Music on iPhone and Android. An upload alone does not guarantee mobile availability, chart ranking or editorial placement.
Can I make money from my uploaded songs?
Eligible artists may earn through qualifying streams and supported direct-to-fan products, subject to product eligibility and the BTR Payment Terms. An upload, a play or a follower is not a guaranteed payment.
Who owns the rights after I upload?
You retain the rights you lawfully own. You must have permission to publish any third-party beats, samples, features or other recorded material. The platform Terms explain the licence needed for hosting and playback.
Which audio file format should I upload?
Use a high-quality finished audio export in one of the formats accepted by the current track uploader. Check file type and size limits in the workspace before submitting, and keep your original master and session files.
How quickly will my track be available to listeners?
Tracks must pass the applicable review and publishing process. Timing can vary; check your workspace for approval status. Share the public release URL only once the track is live.
