BTR Music brings streaming, artists, fans, friends, Crews, live events and music discovery together — with its biggest community upgrade yet.
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA — 22 October 2026 — Music has never been just about pressing play.
It’s the track somebody sends you at 2 AM. The artist you discover before everyone else. The argument about which song goes harder. The friends you take to a show. The people you meet because you love the same sound.
And sometimes, it’s the moment an artist realises that somebody on the other side of the world is actually listening.
Those moments have always been connected in real life. But online, they’re usually scattered across streaming services, messaging apps, social networks, event platforms and artist websites.
BTR Music is bringing them together.
With a major expansion of its chat and community features, BTR Music is pushing beyond traditional music streaming and building something much bigger: one connected place for music, discovery, people, events and direct artist–fan relationships.
From full-length tracks and local music scenes to private Crews of up to 1,000 members, interactive polls, custom reactions, AI-assisted conversations and direct artist support, BTR is building an unusually comprehensive music experience around the culture itself.
The music is the starting point. Everything that happens around it belongs here too.
A Music App That Doesn’t Stop When the Song Ends
Think about what normally happens when you discover an incredible track.
You open a messaging app to send it to a friend. They reply with another song. Somebody suggests going to a show. You switch to an events platform to find tickets, then another app to organise the group.
Meanwhile, the artist who created the music is somewhere else entirely.
BTR Music is designed to change that experience.
Discover a track, listen to the full song, share it with your friends, start a conversation, bring people into a Crew, find an event and connect with the artist — all inside the same music ecosystem.
The goal isn’t simply to add social features to a streaming service.
It’s to make music discovery, listening and community feel like parts of the same experience.
CREWS: Your Music Community, Up to 1,000 People Strong
One of the biggest upgrades is to BTR Crews, the platform’s private music-first communities.
A Crew isn’t just another group chat. It’s a place built around the music and the people who share it.
Create a Crew for your friends, a local music scene, your favourite artists, a festival group or the people you meet at an event.
And now, a single Crew can bring together up to 1,000 members.
Inside a Crew, members can share tracks, artists, playlists and events directly into the conversation. The music becomes part of the discussion instead of an external link that takes everybody somewhere else.
The latest upgrade makes those conversations more expressive, interactive and personal.
Five Reactions. One BTR Language.
BTR introduces five custom music-community reactions:
FIRE · LOVE · VIBE · RESPECT · REAL
React to a message, show appreciation for a track or let somebody know their recommendation deserves respect.
Members can also see who reacted, creating a more personal response than an anonymous reaction count.
Reply, Pin, Share and Keep the Conversation Moving
Quoted replies let people respond directly to a particular message and jump back to the original conversation.
Pinned messages keep important information within reach, whether that’s a festival lineup, an artist announcement, a playlist or the plan for Friday night.
Photo sharing brings more of the experience into the room, with multi-image messages and full-screen viewing.
And when conversations get busy, named typing indicators show who is joining in, making the Crew feel more like a real group of people than a static message feed.
CREW POLLS: Let the People Decide
Music is full of opinions. Now BTR Crews have a better way to settle them.
Who headlines the night? Which track should play next? Which artist deserves the spotlight? Where is everyone going this weekend?
Crew Polls bring those decisions directly into the conversation.
Members can vote, change their selection and see how the results develop. Voting is named, so people can see who’s backing each option, while eligible image options give polls a more visual way to make the choice.
It’s another step towards turning a music community into something people actively participate in.
Not just a place to read messages.
A place to make the call.
18 CREW BACKGROUNDS. YOUR ROOM, YOUR IDENTITY.
Every music community has its own personality.
The new BTR Crew appearance system introduces 18 curated backgrounds, drawing inspiration from vinyl, turntables, club lighting, sound waves, radio static, studio spaces and after-hours culture.
Crew owners can choose a look that reflects their community, and background changes can appear for connected members in real time.
A Crew built around underground techno shouldn’t have to feel identical to a group dedicated to Afrobeats or a Friday-night festival crew.
Now those spaces have more of their own identity.
AI THAT HELPS THE CONVERSATION — WITHOUT TAKING IT OVER
Busy music communities move quickly.
You leave your phone for a few hours and return to a conversation full of tracks, reactions, opinions and plans.
BTR’s AI-assisted conversation features are designed to make catching up easier, without replacing the people in the conversation.
AI Catch-Up can privately summarise recent Crew activity so you can understand what you’ve missed. The summary is for you; it isn’t automatically posted to the group.
3 Ways to Answer helps with the next message by offering three possible replies: Natural, Hype and Keep It Going.
Choose one, edit it however you like or ignore it completely. Nothing gets sent unless you decide to send it.
The idea is simple: AI should support the conversation, not become the conversation.
CREW INSIGHTS: SEE YOUR COMMUNITY COME ALIVE
Crew owners now have another way to understand the communities they’re building.
Crew Insights provides views across seven, thirty and ninety days, showing message activity, member participation, activity patterns and poll engagement.
Instead of relying on guesswork, owners can see when their Crew is most active and how the community is participating.
It’s particularly useful for people organising music communities, local scenes and events.
And the insights are grounded in actual Crew activity, not invented engagement estimates.
FROM MUSIC DISCOVERY TO REAL-WORLD EVENTS
BTR isn’t building community in isolation from the music.
The app connects listening and discovery with the places and people where music culture actually happens.
Listeners can explore music through genres, playlists, recommendations, local scenes and BTR’s evolving charts.
Drop Roulette challenges listeners to hear an unfamiliar track before revealing the artist. Scout gives people a way to mark the music they discovered early. Track Battles turn listening into participation, while Power Charts show movement across countries, genres and subgenres.
And with SCENE, the experience becomes more local.
Explore what’s gaining momentum around you, discover music activity in your city and find relevant events through BTR’s event experience.
Browse events, RSVP, share them with friends and bring people into a Crew around the occasion.
Because music doesn’t exist only inside headphones.
It happens in cities, clubs, festivals, studios and communities — and BTR is connecting those experiences back to the music.
ARTISTS AND FANS. FINALLY IN THE SAME CONVERSATION.
One of the most important parts of BTR Music is the relationship between artists and the people listening to them.
Music discovery shouldn’t always end with a passive stream count.
On BTR, listeners can connect directly with artists through supported messaging and fan experiences, share music within conversations and explore ways to support the people behind the tracks.
Eligible artists can offer features such as Tips, Superfan experiences, Backers, Shoutouts, Rewards and other supported direct-to-fan products.
A fan might discover an artist through a track battle, follow their music, send the song to a Crew and eventually support the artist directly.
That creates more opportunities for a relationship to develop beyond a single play.
For artists, BTR also connects with BeatsToRapOn, the creator-facing platform where independent musicians can upload and manage music, build their profiles and access supported creator tools.
For listeners, BTR Music provides the streaming, discovery and community experience.
Two connected sides. One music ecosystem.
FULL TRACKS. NO SIGNUP WALL. THE MUSIC COMES FIRST.
For all the new features, one thing remains central to the BTR experience: listening.
BTR Music offers free full-track streaming across hip-hop, rap, trap, drill, R&B, Afrobeats, Amapiano, dancehall, Latin, electronic and related genres.
Listeners can open the app and begin exploring music without being forced to create an account before hearing their first track.
When they’re ready to participate more deeply, account-based features unlock social connections, Crews, interactions and supported artist-fan experiences.
BTR is built for the established names, the artists making waves today and the next generation, sharing the same music destination.
This isn’t a platform where discovering someone new means leaving behind the artists you already love.
It’s a place where those sounds and communities can exist together.
THIS IS BIGGER THAN A FEATURE UPDATE
The latest BTR Music upgrade brings together an extensive set of connected experiences: full-track streaming, music discovery, playlists, charts, battles, local scenes, events, direct messages, Crews, polls, reactions, photos, AI-assisted conversations, community insights and artist support.
But the number of features isn’t the most important part.
It’s what becomes possible when those features actually work together.
Hear a track. Discover the artist. Send it to your Crew. Start a debate. Find an event. Bring your friends. Connect with the artist. Support the music you believe in.
And do it without constantly leaving the experience that started it all.
We’re building BTR Music around a simple belief: music is at its best when it brings people together.
Not just as listeners.
As fans, friends, artists, communities and entire scenes.
THE MUSIC. THE ARTISTS. THE PEOPLE. THE EVENTS. THE CULTURE.
ONE APP. THE WHOLE MUSIC SCENE.
GET IN. FIND YOUR PEOPLE.
For listeners: Download BTR Music free on iOS or Android, discover full tracks, explore your scene and bring your friends into the experience.
