About This Event
Wi De: Open Decks Night at the Africa Centre takes place at The Africa Centre, 66 Great Suffolk Street, London, SE1 0BL, on 7 May 2026 from 6:00 PM. The evening is a community-led gathering built around African and African diaspora music, with a focus on listening, dancing, and sharing music.
Wi De means “we are here” in Sierra Leonean Krio. The music selection can include Amapiano, Gqom, Afro-house, Afrotech, Afrobeats, Highlife, Soukous, Kuduro, Baile Funk, Hip-Hop, Dancehall, Reggae, and more. The event welcomes sounds rooted in Africa and the diaspora.
DJs can take part by booking a free DJ ticket. DJ slots are allocated on arrival and are first come, first serve. B2Bs are welcome, and DJs should bring their own equipment, including headphones, USBs, laptops, and any cables or adapters needed.
The decks provided are the Pioneer DJ Opus-Quad. DJs using laptops or USBs need the latest version of Rekordbox, and USBs must be synced using the latest version of Rekordbox to help avoid technical issues and ensure smooth changeovers.
