Vana Liya is a genre-busting vocalist and songwriter whose path into music began with ukulele covers of popular reggae songs posted to social media. Those videos drew support from original artists and led to a 2018 record deal with Pepper’s Los Angeles-based LAW Records, where she became the label’s first female and first solo artist.
Since then, she has worked as a collaborator and continued developing her own sound, described as a distinct and not easily classifiable island vibe. Johnny Cosmic of Stick Figure produced her debut album, Little Kahuna, which was released in September 2021, and he is currently working on her sophomore record.
