About This Event
The Wonder of Stevie comes to The Quad Theatre at Plymouth Marjon University on Friday, 11 September 2026 at 8:00 PM, with a performance built around the career of Stevie Wonder and a wide-ranging selection of his classic songs.
Featuring vocalist Noel McCalla and saxophonist Derek Nash, the show includes material from across Stevie Wonder’s catalogue, from Signed, Sealed, Delivered to songs from Talking Book, Innervisions, Songs in the Key of Life and Hotter than July. The set also includes well-known songs such as I Wish, Superstition, My Cherie Amour and Overjoyed, along with Stevie Wonder compositions that became major hits for other artists.
Noel McCalla has performed with the Morrisey Mullen Band, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, Mezzoforte, and on Mike Rutherford’s Smallcreep’s Day. Derek Nash has played with Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra since 2004 and is also a member of the Ronnie Scotts Blues Explosion. He has won several British Jazz Awards and has performed with Gregory Porter, Chaka Khan, David Sanborn, Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Amy Winehouse.
The band also features Neil Angilley on piano, Tim Cansfield on guitar, Jonathan Noyce on bass, and Nic France on drums. The venue is The Quad Theatre Plymouth Marjon University, Derriford Road, Plymouth, PL6 8BH.
