The Dickies are longtime veterans of the Los Angeles punk scene and were, by the new millennium, the oldest surviving punk band still recording new material. Their music is known for fast, loud punk-pop built from goofy humour, trashy movie references, and pop culture camp. They also became known for covers that turned arena rock anthems and bubblegum pop songs into speed-driven punk versions.
Over time, the band’s sound slowed slightly, but their humour and style remained consistent. Their influence has been acknowledged by new-school punk bands including Green Day and The Offspring.
