About This Event
The Chop Beat Battle 2026 marks the event’s 11th anniversary on Friday, 16 October 2026, at Red Rattler Theatre, 6 Faversham Street, Marrickville. Presented by The Chop and Hustle and Flow Events, the hip hop beat battle begins at 7:00 pm and is restricted to attendees aged 18 and over.
The Chop launched in Sydney in 2013 as a showcase for beatmakers and producers. Its first Beat Battle was held at Play Bar in Surry Hills in 2015, where it continued until 2017. The battle later moved to Hustle & Flow Bar and ran there until the venue closed. The 2026 anniversary event takes the battle to Red Rattler Theatre in Marrickville.
Sixteen beatmakers will compete head-to-head in an open-format battle before a five-person judging panel. New Zealand’s DJ SPELL, also known as SPELLSPELLSPELL, will appear as a guest judge and perform a showcase. DJ Prolifik the Gifted will be on deck during the battle.
