TC & The Groove Family is a 9-piece collective led by drummer Tim Cook (TC) and fronted by Sheffield wordsmith Franz Von. Their music draws on afrobeat, broken beat, jungle, jazz and grime, with horns, percussion, guitars and bass forming part of the live setup.
The band has sold out venues including Leeds’ Brudenell Social Club and London’s Jazz Café, and has appeared at UK festivals such as Glastonbury, We Out Here, Green Man, Shambala, Boomtown and WOMAD. They have also supported artists including Vieux Farka Touré, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, K.O.G, Nubiyan Twist and Yussef Dayes. Support for TC’s music has included Gilles Peterson, Jamz Supernova, Don Letts, New Music Fix and Craig Charles on BBC Radio 6, along with BBC Introducing, Jazz FM, Rinse FM, NTS and editorial coverage across DSPs.
