Marie Chain is a Berlin-based independent singer, songwriter, pianist, DJ, producer, and event organizer. She writes her songs while touring and traveling, and her work has been described by TJPL News as drawing on Global Soul, Neo-Soul, Afrobeats, Retro Soul, and Pop Fusion. The description also notes her as an artist for listeners of Erykah Badu, Sade, Lauryn Hill, and Alicia Keys.
For this return to Tausend Live, she brings stories from the Orient, songs about love, and unreleased material. The evening begins with a live piano concert before moving into a house DJ set. Marie Chain’s background includes classical piano and vocal training from the age of five, collaborations with Alligatoah and the Prague Metropolitan Orchestra, and performances at venues and festivals including Quasimodo Berlin, B-Flat, Huxley’s Neue Welt, Klunkerkranich, Cairo Jazz Festival, Indian Spirit, Blues and Jazz Festival Bamberg, Rudolstadt Festival, and Feel Festival. She has also performed for the Federal Ministry in Berlin.
Her awards include the German Songwriting Award for “Freedom” in 2023, plus the German Singer-Songwriter Prize 2025 and the German Rock & Pop Award 2025.
