About This Event
Join us for an unforgettable summer night at SummerFest Concert: Motown Museum presents Drey Skonie & the Klouds at The War Memorial, located at 32 Lake Shore Drive, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236. Celebrate the vibrant sounds of Motown on Wednesday, August 27, from 6:30 to 9:00 pm EDT.
For many Metro-Detroit families, summer means fun on the lake — and at The War Memorial, that means our beloved SummerFest! Our annual series returns with family-friendly concerts on our beautiful lakefront lawn. All SummerFest events are completely free and open to everyone from everywhere! Feel free to bring your lawn chair, blanket, or enjoy the festival from your boat. Concerts are scheduled rain or shine — in case of bad weather, outdoor performances will move indoors to the War Memorial Ballroom.
Experience the magic of Motown with Drey Skonie & the Klouds, a dynamic ensemble bringing Detroit's legendary sound to life. Drey Skonie, a talented artist from Detroit, is known for his roles as a singer, songwriter, producer, and audio engineer. In 2023, his electrifying rendition of the Miracles' "Ooo Baby Baby" earned him the title of Artist of the Year at the Motown Museum's "Amplify: The Sound of Detroit" competition. Get ready for an evening filled with soul, rhythm, and authentic Motown magic that will have you dancing all night long!
The concert kicks off at 7:30 pm, with grounds opening at 6:30 pm for seating, food, and drinks. The event is family-friendly and perfect for all ages. To enhance your experience, consider upgrading to a VIP ticket — available for only $40-50 each — which includes reserved seating on our balcony or front lawn, padded chairs, a private bar, and a complimentary beverage. Your support helps The War Memorial continue providing affordable, family-friendly programming.
Enjoy delicious eats from The War Memorial’s own hospitality team, led by Chef Joe Paxton, offering a tasty twist on classic Americana. Please note, while picnic blankets and chairs are welcome, outside beverages are not permitted.
Don’t forget to register in advance to secure your spot. Grounds open at 6:30 pm, so arrive early to settle in and enjoy the food stands and bar. We look forward to celebrating a night of soulful music with you!
