SONIDO Andean & Latin American Roots appears at Warners Bay Theatre, baramayiba, on Saturday, 24 October 2026 at 7:00 pm. The venue is located at 39 Lake Street, Warners Bay, NSW 2282.
Sonido has been performing Latin American folkloric music in Australia since 1977. The group began with traditional Andean music, using instruments such as the charango and zampoña, and in the 1990s a new generation of musicians expanded the sound with broader and more modern influences while staying connected to Latin American traditional music.
The ensemble’s concerts feature more than 40 instruments and move from the South American Andes, with charangos and panpipes, to the Caribbean, with the rhythms of congas, bass and piano. Their repertoire includes original songs made in Australia, shaped by the music of Sydney and the poetry, sounds and rhythms of their heritage.
