About This Event
SKEIN is the expansion of the trio Kaufmann / Gratkowski / de Joode. The trio, with Achim Kaufmann, Frank Gratkowski, and Wilbert de Joode, was founded in 2003 and has since developed its own sound language that has received international recognition. To mark the trio’s tenth anniversary, the first formation under the name SKEIN was created as a larger ensemble that expands and condenses the trio’s musical possibilities.
The music is characterized by layered textures, energetic density, and a fine sense of collective interaction. It moves between structural clarity and open form, and between chamber-music precision and eruptive sonic development.
