About This Event

Join us for Shabeen Clubhouse: Reggae in West London, a vibrant one-day celebration of reggae music in honor of Black History Month. Taking place at 79 Askew Rd, London W12 9AH on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 11am to 9pm GMT+1, this free event welcomes families, teenagers, and music enthusiasts alike to explore the rich creative and social history of reggae through engaging art, storytelling, and sound experiences.

The day kicks off with an inspiring workshop for local schoolchildren aged 13–15, who will visit Peckings Records, one of London’s most historic reggae shops, to discover its vital role in bringing Jamaican music to Britain. Participants will then unleash their creativity by designing their own vinyl covers in a guided collage session, bridging heritage with artistic expression.

In the afternoon, a drop-in session invites attendees of all ages to immerse themselves in the reggae culture. Later, don’t miss Reggaeology, a lively live conversation featuring Peckings Records and Professor Mark Byer, sharing captivating stories, rare tracks, and encouraging audience dialogue about reggae’s influence and legacy.

To conclude, enjoy an inclusive sound clash where everyone is invited to bring their favorite vinyl—regardless of genre—and share their musical treasures with the community. Delicious food and drinks will be available on a suggested donation basis to support the event’s accessibility and community spirit.

This event is free to attend and open to all. Registration is required—don’t miss out on this celebration of reggae’s vibrant history and community connection!
