Richard Thompson has been a major figure in modern music since co-founding Fairport Convention in the 1960s. He later spent more than 30 years as a solo artist and has also collaborated with Zara Phillips in recent years. Thompson has received an OBE, lifetime achievement honours from the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, the Americana Music Association, and the Ivor Novello Awards, and his song 1952 Vincent Black Lightning was included in TIME Magazine’s “100 Greatest Songs Since 1923.”
