Rap Concert And Conversation For All Ages By Microsoft Engineer takes place on Friday, October 23 at 7:00 PM at the Santa Monica Bahá'í Center, 3102 Colorado Avenue in Santa Monica. The free, all-ages program is part of Peyt Spencer Dewar’s From The Ground Up tour, combining rap performances with conversation about his path of growth and applying universal principles for a well-rounded life.

Peyt Spencer, whose name rhymes with “heat,” is a rapper and software engineer from Bellevue, Washington. His songwriting is inspired in part by the Bahá'í Faith, which also guided his year of service in Veraguas, Panama, after high school. While living in Santiago, he taught virtues to children, worked with peer-led groups for early adolescents, facilitated study circles for youth and adults, and tutored reading and math. He also began recording raps on his laptop, and his first live rap performance was in Spanish at a community gathering.

After his service year, Spencer attended the University of Florida and performed in Gainesville as a solo artist, with a live band, and with UF’s Hip-Hop Collective and the theater troupe Signs of Life. He later moved to the West Coast to join Microsoft, where he has worked as a software engineer for the past decade. He is also the founder of Lyrist, a tool intended to help songwriters find beats and overcome writer’s block.
