Peyt Spencer, a rapper and software engineer from Bellevue, Washington, performs From The Ground Up, a tour that combines a rap concert with conversation about his path of growth and the universal principles he applies to building a well-rounded life. His music draws on 2000s hip-hop influences including Ja Rule, LL Cool J, Ludacris, and T.I., and he has been praised for an East Coast cadence reminiscent of Jay-Z.
His songwriting is also inspired by the Baha'i Faith and by a year of service in Veraguas, Panama, after high school, where he lived with families in Santiago, taught virtues to children, led peer groups for early adolescents, facilitated study circles for youth and adults, and tutored reading and math. After attending the University of Florida and participating in Gainesville's local scene, he moved to the West Coast to join Microsoft, where he has worked as a software engineer for the past decade. He later returned to music, founded Lyrist, and handles his own catalog, tour, merch, and live streams.
