Palais Sommer: Konzert | Oldtime Jazz Nacht | Dresden Bigband (DE) takes place on 25 July 2026 at 8:00 PM at Neumarkt in Dresden, at Neumarkt, 01067 Dresden.
Dresden Bigband has been led by Micha Winkler for more than 25 years. He shapes the band’s profile as bandleader, arranger, and soloist. The ensemble brings together around 20 musicians of different ages and professional backgrounds, with a shared focus on large-scale jazz in many forms.
The repertoire includes swing classics associated with Glenn Miller, Count Basie, and Benny Goodman, as well as soul and funk in the style of Stevie Wonder. It also features original compositions by Micha Winkler, along with influences from funk, soul, Latin, and hip-hop. The band’s classic big band lineup includes five saxophones, four trumpets, four trombones, and a rhythm section.
Dresden Bigband is a cooperation between the Heinrich-Schütz-Konservatorium and the Sächsisches Landesgymnasium für Musik. The group has given more than 500 performances at festivals, competitions, city festivals, clubs, and dance events, and has also performed at venues such as Kulturzentrum Scheune and Groovestation.
