Mr Shay presents Draft One: Poetry & Hip Hop Night takes place at Moonshine, 91 High Street, Leicester, LE1 4JB, on 7 May 2026 at 7:00 pm.
Leicester’s Poet Laureate shares poems from his first draft book in a work-in-progress poetry collection that includes some of Shay’s iconic poems and a number of newly written pieces. The evening also features a live DJ playing hip hop tracks, a headline set by Mr Shay, and open mic slots for Leicester’s poets and MCs.
Guests who want to join the open mic list should arrive at 7:00 pm, as names will be picked at random. Copies of Draft One will be available to buy on the night for £5.
Moonshine is described as an ornate speakeasy.
