About This Event
Mozart - Piano Sonatas by Candlelight takes place at St Giles’ Cathedral on High Street in Edinburgh on 24 July 2026 at 6:15 PM. The concert features pianist Luke Jones performing three Mozart piano sonatas in a candlelit setting inside the historic cathedral.
The programme includes Sonata in B-flat, K.281, Sonata in D, K.311, and Sonata in A, K.331. Mozart’s works in this programme range from lyrical and graceful writing to playful energy and refined detail, with the final movement of K.331, the “Alla Turca,” among his best-known pieces.
Luke Jones is a Welsh pianist from Wrexham in North Wales. He gave his debut recital at Oriel Wrecsam at the age of 10 and has since performed in venues across Britain and in France, Italy, Luxembourg, Austria, Spain, Majorca, and Slovenia. He has also won prizes in international competitions and received the RNCM Gold Medal, the college’s highest award for Performance.
