Created by the VOCES8 Foundation, Lyyra is a six-voice women’s a cappella group from the US. The ensemble is presented as supporting and raising the visibility of upper voices, and its sound is described as combining velvety richness with starlike brilliance. The group’s members specialise in classical, jazz, pop, and folk music drawn from diverse traditions and backgrounds.
The programme is set to include A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square by Manning Sherwin, arranged by Gene Puerling; What Was I Made For? by Billie Eilish, arranged by Anna Crumley; When the Earth Stands Still by Don MacDonald; Bridge Over Troubled Water by Paul Simon; and more. BBC Radio 3 has described the group as having “exceptional versatility and skill.”
