The Khio Trio explores the music of Armenian life, presenting traditional material alongside contemporary interpretation. The trio’s sound combines Lucine Musaelian’s Armenian identity, Oliver Dover’s traditional wind instruments, and Fred Thomas’ improvisatory approach.
The programme includes traditional mountain dance music, songs of love and exile, and chants dating back to the 10th century that have been reworked. These pieces connect to Armenian themes of land, diaspora, spirituality, renewal, and regeneration.
