Luciano Messenjah performs with special guests The Irie Rockerz at The Thirsty Axe, 209 South School Street in Ukiah, California, on Sunday, February 21. Doors open at 7 PM. This 21+ reggae concert is part of the Thirsty for Reggae Concert Series.
Known as “The Messenjah” and the “King of Conscious Reggae,” Luciano emerged from Jamaica’s roots-reggae revival in the early 1990s. His career includes two GRAMMY nominations for Best Reggae Album, Jamaica’s Order of Distinction, and inclusion on Rolling Stone’s list of the 200 Greatest Singers of All Time.
The Irie Rockerz open the show. Formed by musicians with roots in Jamaica and Humboldt County, the group performs reggae and has shared stages with Toots & The Maytals, Alborosie, Anthony B, Shaggy, Third World, Black Uhuru, and Israel Vibration.
