About This Event
Lecture: Iliana Rose-Roots of Cuban Music, Latin Jazz & Cuban Music Abroad will take place at Sigal Music Museum in Greenville, South Carolina, on Sunday, August 30, 2026 at 3:00 PM. The lecture traces Cuban music beyond the island, including its role in sparking salsa in New York and shaping modern jazz.
Live demonstrations will feature tumbao, montuno, and improvisation, showing the musical forms discussed during the program. Iliana was born in Miami to Cuban parents and grandparents, and she began playing piano at age four. She later earned performance degrees from the University of Miami and the National Piano Guild.
