About This Event

Laurie Black: Deadly Synths and Mr B’s Hip Hop History is a double bill featuring music history, cabaret and performance. It takes place at Aces and Eights Saloon Bar, 156-158 Fortess Road, London, NW5 2HP, on Friday 3 July 2026.

Doors open at 7:30pm, with the show starting at 8:00pm and running for approximately two hours, until around 10:00pm. Tickets are £15 in advance or £20 on the door.

The bill includes Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer, who is credited with originating chap hop, a genre that satirically fuses hip hop with a British “chappist” sensibility. His biography says he began his Chap-Hop career in the summer of 2007 after bringing together elements from his previous work as a UK rapper, jump-up breaks producer, banjolele maverick and dandy.

Laurie Black is described as a classically trained pianist turned synthrock pioneer. She has toured internationally with solo shows and cabarets, and performed in a supporting music set for Adam Ant around the UK in 2022.

Access information provided for the venue states that it is down a flight of stairs and does not have an accessible toilet.
