The event features Kowan Turner, a national and international recording and touring artist whose work blends jazz fusion with funk, hip-hop, and improvisation. Turner has performed across the Midwest, parts of the South, and the West Coast, and has collaborated and toured with artists including Robert Randolph, Jeremy Garrett, Althea Rene, Steady Flow Funk, Watermelon Funk, Caleb Hawley, and Cisco Adler.
Turner’s 2025 release Language Arts is a beat tape and solo project that reflects his work as a producer, composer, and drummer. Kowan & Da Homies is presented as a rotating collective of musicians affiliated with Ghost-Note, Parliament-Funkadelic, Kingfish, George Porter Jr., Steady Flow, and the DJ Williams Band.
