Knats + Support takes place at Cobalt Studios, 10 Boyd Street, Shieldfield, NE2 1AP, on Saturday 2 May 2026. The advertised start time is when doors open, with music generally starting one hour later.
Knats is a quintet led by Stan Woodward on bass and King David-Ike Elechi on drums, joined by trumpet player Ferg Kilsby. The group describes its sound as Geordie Jazz, with sophisticated arrangements, strong melodies, and danceable grooves.
Originally formed by two lifelong best mates from Newcastle Upon Tyne, Knats moved to London at the end of 2022 and went on to play sold-out Jazz Refreshed and Rough Trade East headliners, support Str4ta at a sold Jazz Cafe show, and perform for the BBC Proms. The band has also worked with and backed Geordie Greep and Eddie Chacon, and collaborated with Palace, Beams, and Arc’teryx.
After signing to Gearbox Records in early 2024, Knats released their debut self-titled album in 2025 from Damon Albarn’s Studio 13, mixed by Hugh Padgham. The album has received critical acclaim from Jazzwise, Rolling Stone Japan, The Guardian, and others. Refunds are not available.
