About This Event
Kiezsalon w/ Dal:um, Mariam Gviniashvili and Juli Deák takes place on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 7:00 PM at Collegium Hungaricum Berlin, Dorotheenstraße 12, 10117 Berlin.
The Kiezsalon closes its 2026 season with an intimate program at Collegium Hungaricum Berlin in Berlin-Mitte. The lineup features Seoul-based zither duo Dal:um, Georgian composer and visual artist Mariam Gviniashvili, and Polish-Hungarian flautist and saxophonist Juli Deák.
Dal:um, the duo of Ha Suyean and Hwang Hyeyoung, perform on gayageum and geomungo, combining minimalism, experimental folk and abstract jazz. Their 2024 album Coexistence was praised by Songlines and Chain DLK for its approach to Korean traditional instrumentation. Mariam Gviniashvili works with electroacoustic music, 3D sound and instrumental composition, and has been commissioned by institutions and ensembles including INA GRM, ZKM Karlsruhe, MA/IN, Notam, Henie Onstad Art Centre and Oslo Sinfonietta. Juli Deák’s work bridges classical, contemporary and jazz music through melodic lines, circular breathing and percussive effects, with a focus on breath pressure, airflow, resonance and the mechanics of the flute.
Opened in 2007, Collegium Hungaricum Berlin stands on the site of the original institute that operated from 1926 to 1944. The building’s Bauhaus architecture and large windows are part of the setting for live music across its various spaces.
