About This Event
Join us for an evening with Julian Marley at The Fleece in Bristol on June 4, 2026, starting at 7:00 PM. As the son of reggae legend Bob Marley, Julian Marley is a Grammy-nominated roots-reggae musician, singer-songwriter, producer, and humanitarian. He draws inspiration from life and spirituality, continuing the legacy of his father.
Julian began his musical journey in Jamaica, studying under renowned reggae veterans such as Aston "Family Man" Barrett and Carlton Barrett. After the tragic murder of Carlton Barrett in 1987, Julian wrote two unreleased songs, "Uprising" and "What They Did Wrong," and formed a roots-reggae band called The Uprising. This band opened for his brother Ziggy Marley’s band, The Melody Makers, and performed with The Wailers, which included Carlton Barrett’s son on drums.
In 1993, Julian moved to Jamaica to be closer to his brothers, Stephen and Damian. Together with their brother Kymani Marley, they formed the Ghetto Youths Crew, leading to extensive tours across the United States. Julian expresses gratitude for the musical guidance from his father and brothers, stating, “It is with the inspiration of my family and the Most High that I create all of my songs today.”
A dedicated humanitarian, Julian Marley actively contributes to the Ghetto Youths Foundation, which reflects his commitment to helping youths in various communities. His efforts include engaging with children in London and participating in benefit concerts. Julian's music and mission resonate deeply within the consciousness movement of reggae, and he remains focused on spiritual and moral endeavors. He emphasizes a natural progression in his career, saying, “I don’t plan the next step, I just continue on with Jah Works and somehow things seem to just come together naturally that way.”
Don't miss this opportunity to experience Julian Marley live, as he brings his unique sound and message to The Fleece.
