About This Event
Ida Wenøe and Samantha Whates will take place at Llyfrgell Maindee Library, 79 Chepstow Road, Maindee, NP19 8BY, on 25 April 2026 at 7:30 pm. The event is organised by Maindee Unlimited.
Samantha Whates is a Scottish singer-songwriter with critical acclaim and extensive radio play for her solo releases and for her work with PicaPica on Rough Trade Records. Ida Wenøe, winner of the 2021 Danish Music Awards, blends Americana with Nordic-noir and English folk undertones. Her releases on Songcrafter Music and Integrity Records have also received support from BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 4, Amazing Radio, BBC Wales, BBC Cambridge, BBC Suffolk, BBC Shropshire, BBC Radio Ulster and KEXP.
The two artists first met at a Chris Difford songwriting retreat and later reconnected at Folk Alliance in Kansas City, where they were both official showcasing artists. They continue to collaborate while touring as separate co-headliners, and the performance includes new arrangements of each other’s favourite songs.
