About This Event
HEAVY CONGRESS - IRATION STEPPAS takes place at Collingwood Town Hall, 140 Hoddle Street, Abbotsford, VIC 3067, on Sunday, 1 November 2026 at 1:00 pm. Presented as a day and night event, it returns for its third big dance with I R ATION STEPPAS as special guest.
The event brings together six local crews made up of DJs, MCs and live performing artists, each using custom speaker stacks built to deliver heavy bass. Confirmed Melbourne sound systems include El Gran Mono, General Feeling, Heartical Hi Powa and System Unknown, with South Weight Sound System joining from Tasmania.
Heavy Congress is described as being steeped in soundsystem lore and culture, with roots linked to Jamaican, Colombian and Afro-Caribbean soundsystem traditions. The lineup is built around reggae, protest music, classic dub, electro and techno, along with champeta Africana from the speaker stacks.
