About This Event
Groove City - Like the ol'days takes place at Cultuurhuis Almere Buiten, 106 Baltimoreplein, 1314 ET Almere, on 23 May 2026 at 8:00 PM. The evening combines a film screening with live DJ soundtrack, a graffiti exhibition, and live rap music.
The film program is a follow-up to It Started With The Break. In this new film, Dj Flex-a-Tone looks more closely at the DJ profession, including techniques, creativity, equipment, different music styles, and the role of the DJ as musician and producer. During the screening, Dj Flex-a-Tone provides live DJ music, with the soundtrack performed live through turntablism and DJ performance while the film plays.
Alongside the film, visitors can view Message in a Bottle, an exhibition by Flevoland graffiti artist DRIFT. The project includes more than 150 graffiti artworks from artists in different countries, each placed in a glass bottle. DRIFT is present to share background information, and work by DRIFT can also be purchased.
After the film, the program continues with a live performance by Almeerse MC MiGA, who appears with his own DJ, DJ Ra from Eindhoven. The event closes with a DJ set by Dj Flex-a-Tone, with urban music including hip-hop, R&B, reggae, and dancehall.
