About This Event
FloLab - $300 Weekly Rap Contest and Cypher takes place every Wednesday at Cali's Sports Bar & Kitchen in Berkeley. The event is a weekly Hip Hop open mic and live rap writing contest where MCs, freestylers, writers, and Hip Hop fans gather for live performances, freestyle cyphers, and crowd voting.
Artists receive a topic and beat, write a verse on the spot, and perform for the room. The audience decides who advances through each round, and one artist wins the night. Cash prizes are awarded each week: $150 for 1st place, $100 for 2nd place, and $50 for 3rd place.
To compete, artists are instructed to follow @HipHopForTheFutureSPC on Instagram, check the weekly topics and beats in IG posts, register at HipHopForTheFuture.org, and read the contest rules on the website. Contestants are asked to write one verse per beat, memorize their verses, and arrive by 9:00 PM on Wednesday to secure a spot. Only 12 MC contest slots are available each week.
The event is held at Cali's Sports Bar & Kitchen, 2367 Telegraph Avenue, Berkeley, CA 94704.
