About This Event
Finale takes place at Tithe Barn in Abbotsbury on Sunday, 5 July 2026 at 3:00 PM. The event is presented by Tree Of Strings and features works by Haydn, Ravel and Schubert.
The programme includes Haydn’s string quartets, which the description notes were part of his contribution to the development of the classical style, including the invention of the modern piano trio and string quartet. Schubert’s String Quintet is also included, described as one of the greatest pieces of music ever written and a work that moves between light and shade, serenity and drama.
Maurice Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite for two pianists appears in the middle of the programme. Originally written for orchestra and dedicated to the children of close friends of Ravel, it provides a contrast within the final event of the three-day series. Performers include Abigel Kralik, Gareth Lubbe, Elmore Quartet, Khanh Nhi Luong, Joseph Havlat and Artistic Director Adrian Brendel.
