Edinburgh Royal Mile International Piano Series - The Beethoven Sonatas takes place at St Giles Cathedral on High Street in Edinburgh on Monday, 28 September 2026 at 6:30 PM. The series returns after its 2024 debut with a complete cycle of Beethoven’s 32 Piano Sonatas, presented across the 2026–27 season.
This recital features pianist Maiko Mori. The programme includes Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 17 in D minor, Op. 31, No. 2 “The Tempest”, along with works by Frédéric Chopin, Hamish MacCunn, Amy Beach, Clara Schumann, and Robert Schumann.
The concert is set in St Giles’ Cathedral on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile and is described as being illuminated by candlelight and enhanced by a newly installed Steinway grand piano. The season also marks the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s death.
