About This Event
Dende Nation Pre Carnival Night w/ Reggae Choir takes place at Fox & Firkin in London on Thursday, 27 August 2026 at 7:00 PM. The venue is located at 316 Lewisham High Street, #316a, London, SE13 6JZ.
The event features Dendê Nation, winners of the Notting Hill Carnival 2025 Brazilian Bands Category, presenting a special pre-carnival celebration tied to Ìjó Ìdílé – Rooted & Rising. Marivaldo Paim, Musical Director of Ilê Aiyê, joins as a special guest. Ilê Aiyê is described as a pioneering Afro-Brazilian cultural organisation from Salvador, Bahia.
Reggae Choir also appears with a full live set of reggae classics and contemporary favourites. The ensemble is described as amateur, non-audition, and non-religious, and it is open to people who enjoy singing reggae music regardless of skill or experience. The project is supported by Arts Council England, and Ìjó Ìdílé is produced by Gandaia Arts with support from Arts Council England and Black Butterfly.
