About This Event
Join us for an unforgettable evening with Coyote Island with Cherokee Social on Sunday, August 24, at The Wayfarer in Costa Mesa, CA. Doors open at 6pm, with the show running from 7 to 10pm PDT. Tickets are just $24.37 USD — a perfect way to experience a night of vibrant, boundary-pushing music.
Experience the captivating sounds of Coyote Island, led by the soulful Mike O’Hehir. His music blends a rich tapestry of Caribbean beats, contemporary pop, reggae, folk, Afrobeats, Gypsy jazz, cumbia, and psychedelia — creating a dynamic, ever-evolving sound that defies easy categorization. From the breezy bounce of "Here Before" to the meditative depth of "Shine through the Darkness", Mike’s songs are mood-enhancers and attitude adjustments that resonate with a generation seeking direction and authenticity.
Following the success of their 2023 album “Holy Illusion,” Coyote Island now unveils “Trust the Path,” featuring the catchy single with Hip Abduction, released earlier this year. Their sound, inspired by the wise and playful coyote figure in indigenous cultures, invites you to let go and see where the music takes you — from warm, inviting openings to thunderous drums and ethereal guitar leads.
Mike O’Hehir has assembled a talented band committed to exploring new musical horizons. Guitarist Amir Rivera, a wily co-writer of “Trust the Path,” keeps audiences on their toes with his versatile playing. The rhythm section, with Garrett Jones on bass and Ryan Benoit on drums, skillfully navigates complex rhythms, making every beat feel both fresh and familiar. Their collective curiosity and fearless approach turn every show into a mystical experience — a celebration of authenticity and shared connection.
On the other side of the stage, Cherokee Social frontman Julian Navarro brings a lifelong passion for music and a knack for uniting communities through his soulful vocals and energetic performances. Alongside guitarist Alex Creighton, Julian infuses their indie pop with blues, indigenous influences, and infectious melodies. Already known for hits like "Cinnamon Sugar" and "Tamagotchi", they are currently crafting their debut album, set to debut in Summer 2025 — promising more great music and memorable moments.
Don’t miss this night of musical exploration, cultural connection, and authentic expression. The vibe is contagious — come dance, discover, and trust the path with Coyote Island and Cherokee Social at The Wayfarer.
