About This Event
Chopin and Champagne by Candlelight takes place at St Mary Le Strand in Westminster, London, on Friday 12 June 2026 at 8:00pm. The concert features pianist Matthew McLachlan performing a programme of Chopin works on the church’s new Steinway model B grand piano.
The programme includes Fantasy in F minor, Op. 49, Polonaise in E flat minor, Scherzo No. 2 in B flat minor, Waltz No. 3 in A minor, and several études, including Op. 10 No. 9 in F minor and Op. 25 Nos. 1, 9 and 10, before closing with Ballade No. 1 in G minor.
A complimentary champagne reception is served from 7:40pm, before the performance begins at 8:00pm. St Mary Le Strand is located at The Strand, London, Westminster, WC2R 1ES.
Matthew McLachlan was born in 2000 and began piano lessons with his father in 2008. He later studied at Wells Cathedral School and Chetham’s, and received distinction awards for the ATCL, LTCL and FTCL recital diplomas.
