Charlie Wood is a singer, songwriter and keyboardist whose music draws on jazz, blues, traditional R&B and popular music. Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, he spent time in New Orleans from the age of seventeen, playing with local musicians including Charmaine Neville before returning to Memphis in his early twenties.
He later toured the US and Europe with blues guitarist Albert King and held a long-running residency with his Hammond organ trio at King's Palace on Beale Street. Wood has released original recordings including Southbound, Who I Am and Flutter and Wow, and his song Promised Land won the 2016 U.S.A Songwriting Competition in the jazz category. His song Never Gonna Stop New Orleans was recorded by Irma Thomas for the soundtrack of The Big Uneasy.
