Boubacar Samake is the son of the late Malian music legend Sibiri Samake and carries forward the spiritual tradition of Mali’s donso, or hunter, music. This lineage is built on ritual melodies and rhythms associated with courage, healing, and connection to the natural world.
A virtuoso of the ngoni, Boubacar Samake also performs as one half of electro-afro project Siraba. For this line-up, he is joined by Louis Campbell on electric guitar, Ben Nicholls on bass, and Seydou Kienou on percussion, including djembe, calabash, and karagnan. Together, they present an approach that links West African tradition with modern experimentation.
