British singer and pianist Mike Sanchez is known for rhythm & blues and rock 'n' roll, with a performance style built around boogie-woogie piano. Born in London in 1964 to Spanish parents, he moved to Worcestershire at the age of eleven, where he began playing piano and developed an early interest in 1950s American roots music. As a teenager, he taught himself guitar and formed The Rockets, a rockabilly trio.
Sanchez later co-founded The Big Town Playboys in 1984 with Andy Silvester, specialising in authentic post-war Rhythm & Blues. The band recorded several albums between 1985 and 1998, including Crazy Legs with Jeff Beck in 1993. In 2000, Sanchez went solo and later spent four years as a full-time member of Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings, touring across Europe with artists including Georgie Fame, Beverly Skeete, Albert Lee, Andy Fairweather-Low and Eddie Floyd.
