About This Event
Biribá Union comes to the Concord Conservatory of Music in Concord, Massachusetts on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 7:30 PM. The event features Mike Block on cello and vocals, Christylez Bacon on beatbox, guitar, and rhymes, and Patricia Ligia on electric bass and vocals.
The trio met through Silkroad’s Global Musician Workshop and began writing new music together after bonding over their shared interest in Brazilian music. Their work draws on Brazilian forró and choro, hip-hop and Go-go music, American roots music, and jazz.
Mike Block is a Grammy Award-winning cellist, singer, and composer who has been a member of the Silkroad Ensemble for nearly twenty years and serves as a director for Silkroad’s Global Musician Workshop. Christylez Bacon is a Grammy-nominated songwriter, storyteller, rapper, beat-boxer, and guitarist whose collaborations include Hindustani, Arabic, and Brazilian musicians. Patricia Ligia is an electric bass player and composer from Montevideo, Uruguay, and co-founder of Mestizas, a band that fuses flamenco and jazz with folkloric music from Latin America and the Caribbean.
