About This Event
Beethoven Piano Sonatas by Candlelight takes place at St Giles’ Cathedral on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh on Friday, 21 August 2026 at 6:15 PM. The recital features pianist Ugnius Pauliukonis performing a programme of Beethoven and Chopin on a brand new Steinway Model B Grand Piano.
The programme includes Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 8 in C minor, Op. 13 “Pathétique”, Chopin’s 2 Nocturnes, Op. 62, and Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 30 in E major, Op. 109. St Giles’ Cathedral is located at High Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1RE.
Ugnius Pauliukonis is an award-winning pianist, educator, and curator. He has performed with the BBC Philharmonic, Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, and Kaunas State Symphony Orchestra, and has appeared at Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, and the Lithuanian National Philharmonic. He is also the creative force behind SONO ensemble.
