Arild Andersen, Rob Luft, Daniel Sommer Trio appears at St John’s College, Oxford on Saturday 13 June 2026 at 7:30 pm. The event takes place at the Parks Road entrance, Oxford, OX1 3JP.
This jazz trio features Arild Andersen, Rob Luft and Daniel Sommer performing music from their As Time Passes album. The album was recorded in 2024 and is the first in a trilogy inspired by Daniel Sommer’s exploration of the Nordic music tradition. The trio’s work on the album includes original compositions and structured improvisation.
Arild Andersen is a Norwegian bass player who has recorded extensively for ECM and worked with musicians including Ralph Towner, Bill Frisell, Kenny Wheeler, John Taylor, Paul Motian, Pat Metheny, Paul Bley, Don Cherry, Sam Rivers and Sheila Jordan. Rob Luft is an English jazz guitarist and composer who has recorded with his own quartet, collaborated with vocalist Elina Duni, and performed and recorded with John Surman. Daniel Sommer is a Danish drummer and composer known for his work in improvisation and for collaborations with Arild Andersen and other internationally recognised musicians.
As Time Passes received Presto Music’s Jazz Album of the Year.
