Described by BBC World News as “The Diva of the Sudanese Desert,” Amira Kheir has built a career over the last decade as a singer from Africa and the Middle East. Since releasing her critically acclaimed 2011 album View From Somewhere, she has continued to reach new audiences with music inspired by Sudan and shaped by jazz, soul, rock, desert blues, and experimental music.
Her work has been described as Nubian Jazz, and her 2025 album Black Diamond was praised by UK Jazz News for its nine tracks, which were noted as her most heartfelt and deeply personal work to date. The performance features Amira Kheir on vocals, with Nadir Ramzy on acoustic oud and Sudanese bongos, Ant Law on electric guitar, Michele Montolli on electric bass and double bass, Leandro Mancini on drums, and Sam Crowe on piano.
