Aki Kumar left Mumbai, India, with dreams of a career in software engineering. But his passion for music led him to discover the blues, transforming his life and inspiring a unique fusion of Indian music and American blues. Known as one of the hardest working artists today, Kumar’s innovative style creates a multicultural mash-up that is both fresh and deeply rooted in tradition.
He has graced stages at the renowned Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival, been featured on PRI’s The World, and toured internationally across Russia, Scandinavia, and South America. His critically acclaimed albums, Aki Goes To Bollywood (2016) and Hindi Man Blues (2018), showcase his groundbreaking approach and have garnered international praise. In 2020, Kumar made headlines worldwide with the launch of his album Dilruba on Sony Music India, and he continues to inspire with recent releases like the reggae-infused single "Zindagi".
