AfroFuturist Weekend 11 takes place Saturday, October 3, at Elastic Arts in Chicago’s Logan Square. The program begins at 5 PM with Lyrical Miracles: Rap Artists, Craft, and Culture, a hip hop panel led by 2026 Dark Matter Resident Aquil “AQ” Charlton.
At 9 PM, Detroit reedist and composer Mike Monford performs with his band in tribute to producer J Dilla. The set includes music by J Dilla alongside new compositions by Monford inspired by Dilla’s musical legacy and developed through Monford’s approach to jazz and improvisation.
