Adrian Utley is an English guitarist, producer, and composer best known as a founding member of Portishead. He moved to Bristol in the mid-1980s, where he immersed himself in jazz and performed with musicians including Big John Patton and Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers. He later co-founded Portishead in 1990 and contributed to Dummy (1994), Portishead (1997), and Third (2008).
Utley’s work also includes production and collaboration with artists such as Beth Gibbons, Geoff Barrow, Jeff Beck, Perfume Genius, and Marianne Faithfull. His credits extend to film and experimental composition, including new music for The Passion of Joan of Arc and large ensemble performances.
