About This Event
40s & 50s Hangar Dance at the Vulcan takes place at London Southend Airport in Southend-on-Sea on Saturday, 3 October 2026, with doors opening at 6:00 pm. The event is held in the Vulcan Restoration Trust’s hangar at Eastwoodbury Crescent, SS2 6YF.
The evening features the Sid Bolan Big Band, an 18-piece band, joined by local jazz singer Ruby Robinson. The band will perform dance hits from the wartime and post-war years across two sets, from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm and again from 9:00 pm until 10:15 pm.
Before the band begins, DJ Dinger will play 1940s and 1950s music after the doors open. The Air Raid Jive Dance School will also lead a 30-minute tutorial at 7:00 pm and return during the interval at 8:30 pm.
Tickets are £21, with reduced admission of £17 for Vulcan Restoration Trust members, plus booking fees. The event includes a licensed pay bar, refreshments including hot and cold food, and souvenirs from the Hangar Shop. Assistance dogs are permitted, while pets, therapy animals, and emotional support animals are not allowed on site.
