About This Event
Bach to LIFE!… eternal inspiration takes place on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 3:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church (Edmonton), 10025 105 Street Northwest, Edmonton, AB T5J 1C8. Presented by Edmonton Metropolitan Chorus, the concert closes the choir’s 2025–2026 season with a program of music by Johann Sebastian Bach performed on period instruments in historically informed style.
The program includes highlights from Bach’s sacred works, with selections from the Christmas Oratorio, St. John Passion, and Mass in B Minor, along with “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” sung in English and the motet “Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden.” The concert is conducted by David Garber, with Nueva Convivencia and leader Reneé Pérez.
Instrumentation includes Baroque strings, oboes, trumpets in D, timpani, and continuo instruments including baroque cello, violone, theorbo, archlute, and organ. The performance runs approximately one hour and is presented without intermission.
